About - The Noematic Collective
The Noematic Collective was founded by Sian Hutchings in 2016, are a collective who explore “how we can understand place, environments and social impacts through sound” (Hutchings).
The Noematic Collective has grown out of the BA (Hons) Fine Art Degree at AUB. The manifesto of The Noematic Collective is to increase the understanding and thoughtfulness of sound and the importance of sound where vision has been the dominant sense in western culture.
Currently the group consist of students and graduates from Arts University Bournemouth, Anya Bliss, Danny Baum, Ethoríó, Elijah Kennedy, Charles Pritchard, Georgie Ryan, Maddison Collymore, Tobias Gumbrill, Oscar Lockey, Oliver Matich and Sian Hutchings.
The collective have exhibited at Bold Tendencies (London, UK), BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art (Newcastle, UK), The Art Academy of Latvia (Riga, Latvia) and more. They also run sonic-based workshops which have taken place at Goldsmiths University, Arts University Bournemouth and Bournemouth Emerging Arts Fringe.
